John 1:1-18

John 1:1-18

Those who accept & receive Jesus Christ are children of God (v. 12). He is the true light and He enlightens everyone (v. 9).

John’s description of Jesus as full of Grace and truth captures my attention. Grace and truth are important to us as well.

Law by Moses
Grace and Truth by Jesus.

John 1:3 “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”‭‭John‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NIV

John reveals the divinity of Jesus as the word (v 1) and light (v 4). And he says he gave us the right to become the children of God (v 12) if we believe this

John 1:4-5 In Him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not. Darkness will not comprehend men.

Some thoughts on v3,4: spiritual life existed before physical creation. A direct challenge to 21st century cosmology which says first it was primordial matter then came life/sprit. So, no purpose in life. After all it is all stuff.
John (v 3) says NO. Matter cannot create life. Only life can create. In v.4 life existed before any creation existed. There is a purpose in life. There is a life behind our life. Unless we believe who it is and receive Him, we will remain in darkness. Answer is plain in v4. “In Him was life”
If I believe this, then every stone, every leaf and every person around me is in some degree echoing the eternity of Gods plan. Helpful. Jesus please give me eyes to see and give me light to see.
Kinda lost in these thoughts.

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh” is like HE “walk the talk and talk the walk”

We can’t find any verse in the Bible that says “God is a Trinity”, but it is implied in John 1st chapter (v1)…the Word was with God, and the Word was God, (v14) the Word became Flesh (Jesus Christ), (v32) and the Spirit (of God) descend from heaven and remained on Him. So, our God is a Trinity!

God came into the world for his own people but he was rejected. We should not reject Jesus but instead we should accept him as our personal savior.

John 1: It says in John 1 that “All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being” That means we would not be alive if God was not here.

17 For the law was given through Moses , but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. …Law given through Moses.. I could understand.
…Grace through Jesus Christ also understood.
…Truth…? Does it mean His words / teachings?

V 12 . To all who received him… He have the right to become children of God.- when we receive his life/ light we are no more dead, but alive in Christ. Born again?

I believe Jesus himself is a truth..he himself testifies that I am the way, the truth, and the life..

I am the way … Blood of Jesus Christ has opened the gate to help us to reach the Father’s place (salvation is the gate)I am the life … This is about Eternal life. He only can give us.
Same way what Truth means?

“Grace & truth in today’s passage parallels love and faithfulness from the Old Testament. Love refers to gracious covenant love, faithfulness when referring to words, means faithful words, truth” (D.A Carson’s NIV Zondervan Study Bible). Hope this is helpful.
