Even though God sent his son to save the mankind, men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil and it’s the vice-versa too that whoever does evil hate the light. It’s very hard to imagine that how one will reject the light when we know about it. But these words came from Jesus directly that men with evil deeds hate light. So I need to think what I am doing and how I am doing and if I am loving the light.
Believing in the name of Jesus, that is, Jesus as our Lord and Savior is important to have eternal life.
He knew what was IN man1. This shows how self-deceptive human heart is. It is clear from NT that rituals and outer behavior cannot say anything about anyone but so is our ‘inner behavior’. It could be easily misaligned and messed up. In other words, on outside and inside human is not trustworthy. We cannot trust ourselves.
2. So what can we do? How can we ever be sure? Yes we can.
At the end of his life, Jesus did entrust himself with open arm hanging on the cross with every sinner and to anyone who trusts him. Jesus is not naïve – he understands what we are inside. he knows we have a tendency to wander but he gives himself anyway. Let us trust him and continue to trust even if we not sure inside sometimes.
In the previous chapter Jesus talked about his death and resurrection, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” In this chapter also he says, “Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so must the Son of man be lifted up.” Jesus was very clear about his purpose to give us eternal life.
Whoever does not believe in Jesus is in the dark. Whoever believes in Jesus is in the light and has eternal life.
John 3:16 God sacrificed his son for us so we can be saved. Everyone who believes in him will have eternal life with God.
I love the following verses thought together: john 1:4, 1:9, 1:31, 2:6-7, 3:5. Question to myself is this: Has Jesus been revealed to myself and did i see His kingdom?
Though there is light in this world, man loves darkness. Why? Man likes to stay in the darkness for he fears that his evil deeds will be revealed. Man who lives by truth is in the light so that it’s clear that what he has done is not by him but has been done only through God.
Nicodemus went to Jesus at night and he went there at night because he did not want the people to know that he is asking a question.We should not be shy to ask questions.
God so loved us that he sent his son into this world to save us from our sins so that we can have eternal life. But we should believe in him.
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”~John 3:17-18
I learned that Jesus was sent to us not so that we would die, but that we would live. I also learned that we should believe in him and we will be saved and If we don’t believe in him then we will be condemned. So we should always trust Him and not lean on our own understanding otherwise we will be condemned
John 3:21 Who lives by the Truth, have no issues of coming to the LIGHT. am I?
(v16)…whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Let’s just have faith in Him, receive the light, and be a light to this world.
We see in the scripture that Jesus stress the word by mentioning truly truly, here truly truly I say to you unless one is born of water and spirit, you cannot enter the kingdom of God, are we all born again and born of spirit?
I was born as a Christian, heard and read this portion many many times. I understood only when I got a chance to meet Him during my TUCC days. It was a wonderful experience I could ever forget. I got my first child after 12 years of my marriage after so much struggle, after 3 premature deliveries. It was not just the babies died but me and wife too died. The 3 gifts we received after that were so precious But I have received a gift from Him which is more valuable than my children is my spiritual birth. Those who experience could understand what I mean. I testify this wherever I go.Seventh delivery was my spiritual birth!

Born again is the pivotal moment of a Christian life from the dominion of darkness to the kingdom of light.
The entire conversation is about Jesus assuring Nicodemus of his belief.V2 – he comes to Jesus at night, even though he knew that Jesus has come from God.
It is his choice to believe in the light and be exposed so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done (his believing) has been done through God (v21)
This passage has the most popular verse in the bible v16 and it was spoken to an individual and not to the disciples, the crowd or the Jews. I believe Jesus explained this mystery (born again and gift of God) to Nicodemus because he was a teacher himself and he believed that Jesus was from God. Unfortunately Jesus had to go through multiple iterations to get him to understand. It’s easier for us to understand this mystery because we know what “gave his one and only son” means. For them it must have been harder because Jesus was still alive.
1.. The world is filled with many religious people who MUST be born again. Jesus is absolute but for Nic it seems absurd. (V.4) I think Nic seems to understand Jesus is from God but is a bit unable to locate or categorize this. 2. A born-gain Christian is an oxymoron. There is something supernatural in a Christian. Something out of this world is at work inside him.
3. We learn that God did not come here to potentially create opportunities to save the world, possibilities to save the world but to actually save it. The single most difference between Cheistianity and other so called religions that saves.

God created light !! He is the light of my salvation !!God’s word is a lamp to my feet and light for my path. But its the choices that I make either to be in the light to reflect His love or to be in darkness.
“Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. ”Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.”
John 3:3, 6 NIV
We need to accept that Jesus is our savior and follow his word, after saying that and we continue to do bad things, we will continue doing that!! So we need to remain in Christ
It is very interesting to noe that the most important verse in bible, john 3:16 was uttered in darkness to a man who came in for a secret meeting with Jesus at night. Is 19-20 an indirect advice to Nic to come in day time?
