Jesus appointed and designated them as apostles that they might-Preach
Authority to drive out demons
and above all
They might be with him
Jesus appointed twelve apostles to be with him and to be sent out. Jesus discipled them and sent them out. Great model.
Jesus got angry seeing the hardness of their hearts
Jesus looked at the people around him and acknowledged them as his brothers and mother. How were those people fulfilling the will of God? (vv. 34, 35)
(v. 6) Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him , how they might destroy Him.- we could find Pharisees’s வைராக்கியம். They were ready to kill Jesus just to fullfill Moses’s law. But they were blind in spirit which they may not have understood.
கலா 4:18 நல்விஷயத்தில் வைராக்கியம் பாராட்டுவது நல்லதுதான். அதை நான் உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கும்பொழுதுமாத்திரமல்ல, எப்பொழுதும் பாராட்டவேண்டும்.
– We shouldn’t be like Pharisees. Let our வைராக்கியம் be in good spirit.
(vv. 9,10) Still some with diseases wanted to touch him (to be healed), but Jesus pushed himself away from the Crowd so some might have been left not healed that day. Healing everyone doesn’t seem to be HIS first priority compared to Preaching and Saving everyone(the world. John 3:17).
Pharisees followed the written law of honoring Sabbath but didn’t follow Jesus,sometimes even we follow the law, cultures, traditions and fail to follow Jesus.
(v. 3:35) தேவனுடைய சித்தத்தின்படி செய்கிறவன் எவனோ அவனே எனக்குச் சகோதரனும்,எனக்குச் சகோதரியும், எனக்குத் தாயுமாய் இருக்கிறான் என்றார்.- Jesus gives full weightage to spiritual relationship than fleshly (blood) relationship.
This is what happens even now within us. Let us pray to have good understanding of Jesus. In no time we could relax and say I know everything or Better than someone.
(v. 35) Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and my mother.
-What is God’s will? Answer is in Matthew 22: 37-38. 1) Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 2) Love your neighbor as yourself.
-God is love. God is all about love. Let’s love our God and let’s show the same love to others that He showed us on the cross.
It reminds me about Sangam Tamil Philosopher கணியன் பூங்குன்றனார் said “யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர்” – To us all towns are one, all men our kin. Jesus emphasized in Mark 3:15 “For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”
