Psalm 39

Psalm 38: “It is for you, O Lord, that I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer” (v. 25).

Psalm 39- I said, “I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.”Sometimes our tongue slips and unfortunately some sinful words come out of our mouth but David says-to do something that will help us stop saying these sinful words.

Psalm 39: 12 Hear my prayer O Lord and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my ears.

Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! But Lord you reign for ever and ever Amen!!

Psalm 39:7 “My hope is in you.”I’m confident that those who hope in the Lord will never be put to shame.

Psalm 39 is David’s prayer for wisdom and forgiveness. The first 3 verses show that both wisdom and forgiveness begin with controlling your mouth. Even though your heart may be hot within you (v. 3), you must hold your peace lest you sin with your tongue (v. 1-2). –

“Save me from all my transgressions; do not make me the scorn of fools.” ~ Psalm 39:8. When we ask for forgiveness from God, He will forgive us. –

Psalm 39 -Everything in the world is so unsure.
-David says in v7, “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you”.
-Our Lord Jesus is our only “Hope”, those who have “hope” in him will never be ashamed!

Life on muteThere are two ways to put life on mute ( remain silent) when we go through trials. One is through telling ourselves be silent be silent – muzzling the mouth (v1). The other is to be silent when we realize ,”For it is you who have done it”. (V.9)
From outside both silences look similar but inside there is a world of difference. One is a soul captured by a settled certainty of God who is sovereign while the other is trying to do it through self-discipline.
If realized that every trial which happens to us has passed through the fingers of God before we pass through them. we can be mute (v8) and may be just may be say selah. Selah means “pause and think calmly” or simply stop and listen.

5 இதோ,…எந்த மனுஷனும் மாயையே என்பது நிச்சயம். 11 …நிச்சயமாக எந்த மனுஷனும் மாயையே.
– as a human, understanding or realising this is difficult. We tend to move with the world. Let our longings be towards earning eternal blessings, (பரலோக பொக்கிசங்கள்) which are nothing but tastes of the fruit of spirit.

Psalm 39: Life is fleeting; days a few handbreadths (vv. 4, 5). Everyone goes about like a shadow; everyone is a mere breath (vv. 6, 12). We are passing guests and aliens (v. 12). My hope is in you, O Lord! (v. 7).
