Bible's favorite number!

1, 100, Google, p, 4654974... Most of us have a favorite number, for some it may be their birthday, or it may be a special number that was passed from generation to generation.

Bible also has a favorite number. When I read bible, it comes up so many times that it made me wonder what it really means.

It is so special that it is used more than 400 times. It is number 7.

Few examples:

  •      7 days of creation and on 7th day as holy (genesis 2:3)
  •       In the story of Noah's Ark, God told Noah (genesis 7)

o   take 7 of every kind of clean animal

o   take 7 of every kind of bird

  •      People who touch dead body will be unclean for 7 days (numbers 19:16)
  •     God told Israelites to march 7 times around the wall of Jericho (Joshua 6:4)

Samson's 7 braids of his hair (Judges 16:13)

  •       It took Solomon spent seven years to build the temple (1 Kings 6:38 )
  •       7 loaves fed the 4,000, 7 baskets are leftover (Matthew 15:32-39)
  •      7 words from the Cross
  •      7 deacons in the early church (Act 6:5)
  •      Paul sent letters to 7 different churches
  •       7 elements of the armor of God (Ephesians 6:14-18)

         In Revelation:

o   7 churches

o   7 seals

o    7 Trumpets

o   7 stars in Christ hand

o   7 kings

o   7 golden candlesticks

o   7 Mountains

o   7 thunders

               There is more...

Seven is such a "complete number" in the bible that it represents "completeness" or "flawlessness."

So next time you read a passage check if #7 is used.
